We are seeking a motivated Field Crew Member to assist with operating survey equipment for boundary and topographic surveys and construction staking. This is an entry level position working under the close supervision of the Crew Chief to execute daily field operations, check and load trucks at the office and again before leaving job sites, and will learn to take field notes and collect data.
· Set up survey equipment, instruments and perform field duties as directed by the Crew Chief.
· Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey.
· Hold level rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations and set stakes for mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys.
· Communicate changes in rod height changes to Crew Chief.
· Read steel and/or cloth tape accurately in feet and decimals.
· Mark measuring points with markers, paint sticks, tacks, scratches or stakes.
· Using wi-fi, acquire data for field use, and transmit field data.
· Correctly load and unload equipment, and stock and prepare trucks for daily jobs.
· Advise crew chiefs of problems and issues.
· Develop an understanding of the different types of surveys conducted by Quiddity.
· Develop an understanding of and become proficient at Quiddity collection methods and codes for collecting field data.
· Learn and apply the correct codes to features located within the Quiddity data collection system.
· If required, drive Quiddity trucks in different urban and rural environments, and on developed and undeveloped land.
· Valid TX driver’s license, and able to get to and from the office.
· Can read work instructions and write legibly.
· Displays a professional appearance, and good hygiene.
· Can work outdoors for extended periods of time, in a variety of weather conditions.
· Can perform heavy manual labor such as carrying equipment, clearing brush and digging.
· Can routinely walk 5-7 miles and stand for most working hours during the day.
· Familiarity with survey instruments is a plus.
· Will be required to pass drug test and standard background check.
· Can work overtime.
